Chief Kimes is the Township Fire Marshal that handles burning complaints. Any requests for building code certifications and approvals need to go thru the Township Code Office.
It is unlawful to burn yard waste at any time in the Township. The Township has a yard waste disposal program that you may contact the Township to get further information, 610-380-8200.
Campfire permits are specific to their use (recreational) and must follow all stipulations as indicated on the permit. If you own a manufactured portable fire place, (screened or unscreened) a camp fire permit is needed to utilize the unit and all safety requirements must be adhered to, including proper placement of the unit. The use of burn barrels are prohibited.
Permits are not needed for charcoal or gas grills, however, they shall not be utilized within 5 feet of any dwelling.
Farm clean up permits are strickly for properties that are utilized for agriculture purposes and must meet the criteria defined under the PA right to farm act to be eligible to apply for this permit. The burning of farm materials in their unmanufactured state is the only allowable material that may be burned under this permit.
Bon fire permits are issued on limited basis and are only permitted on certain properties, email the fire marshal prior to applying.
Burn permits are valid for 90 days and must be furnished upon request to a Township Official. Permits are issued on line and approved by the next business day, if feasible. Any violations of conditions on open burning shall result in revocation of permit with possible sanctions levied against the property owner.
