West Brandywine has found a three member Board promotes involvement by Supervisors and insures attendance as necessary. A three member Board depends on each member to a far greater degree than a five member Board would find necessary. We have found a three member Board promotes greater cooperation and understanding among Board members and discourages the formation of group based bias or alliance.
Three members must cooperate and this leads to efficiency and more intense study by Board members. In addition, West Brandywine’s current Board has found with three members the Chairmanship may be rotated each year, yet allow each member of the Board the same amount of time as Chairman during a typical term in office. This is a fair and logical method to prevent the consolidation of authority in one individual thus bringing better representation to the people of West Brandywine Township. Board members serve a six year term.
